Gemelli Turns One

Gemelli Turns One

They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content and I could not agree more. I spent the day at one of my favorite restaurants as they celebrated their first birthday, shocking considering the hype around this place you would have sworn they have been around for longer and actually realizing  that they are only one year old makes me wonder what took them so long( Yes, I love it that much).  Gemelli Restaurant, situated in Bryanston, Johannesburg  has been the talk of the town and go to place for exquisite mouth watering meals and cocktails.

Apart from the meals and marvelous interiors, I love that is it is a black owned business that has successfully managed to cater for the up class market as well as pull in a perfectly integrated crowd. Alessandro Mosupi Khojane  grew up in Roma, Italy, around a large family who enjoyed entertaining friends. This sparked his love for people and food, which over 10 years in the industry has developed into a passion for seeing truly happy customers enjoying their food experience. Because of the tight-knit team (some of whom have become part of la famiglia in the decade they’ve worked together), Gemelli feels like a home-away-from-home. The kitchen, led by Paulo Santo, serves inspired Italian dishes that are modern yet nostalgically familiar.

Here is how the day went. Spent with an array of selected street foods, Stylish friends and good music, I could not  think of a more perfect way to celebrate this occasion.

Behind the fantastic food and incredible experiences, there’s a tantalizing story to tell. One of sensory enlightenment and a passion for seeing people come together.

Make your reservations on Gemelli   website and be sure to check them out when you’re in Johannesburg
